Quick and Easy Japanese Okonomiyaki Recipe
Initial ingredients preparation before cooking the okonomiyaki
12 ounces sliced bacon
1 1/3 cups water
4 eggs
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 medium head cabbage, cored and sliced
2 tablespoons minced pickled ginger
1/4 cup tonkatsu sauce or barbecue sauce
Recipe for Japanese Okonomiyaki
Start by frying specified quantity of bacon in a big frying pan using medium heat until slightly crispy.
Remove it from the frying pan and soak the extra oil off it by placing it on paper towels to drain. Keep it on a side.
Mix the water and eggs together is a medium sized bowl. Keep on stirring the flour and salt continuously until the mixture turns smooth.
Mix in the cabbage and ginger; and again mix nicely until smoothly distributed.
Moderately heat the frying pan using medium heat and coat with cooking spray.
Pour about 25% of the above prepared mixture into the frying pan. Put four pieces of cooked bacon on the batter.
Use a spoon or any accessory to give the desired okonomiyaki shape to the pancake into a circle. Keep frying for about 5 minutes or until the edges are dry.
Turn the bacon and cook on the reverse side until the center is strong and turns brown on either of the two sides.
Finish the okonomiyaki by removing from the pan and sprinkling it with tonkatsu sauce before serving.
You can Continue to cook more OKONOMIYAKI with remaining mixture and bacon.
